Where There's Smoke, There's Taino

Where There's Smoke, There's Taino

It has been said, "Where there is smoke, there is fire." When in Middletown, that delicious smoky blend is billowing from Taino Smokehouse on South Main Street.

I have long heard of the fantastic food served at Taino and finally experienced it for myself. As we exited the vehicle, even some distance off in the parking lot, the aroma of smoke covered the area, and wafts of smoky-goodness puffed into the sky -- a beacon indicating we were in the right place. We chose to dine on the patio, which is a really cool outdoor area to behold. Beyond the rustic wood gate is a large area of picnic-style tables where diners are always in good view and smelling range of the outdoor wood-fired grill. Flowering plants stretch and twirl around the lattice, offering shade and beauty, accenting the contrast of rustic venue and shopping center.

The service was excellent, with many staff attending to Taino guests throughout the visit. One of the proprietors stopped at tables, greeting diners, and telling of the history behind the Taino people and their cooking style.

And you must be wondering about the food, right? Excellent! My boyfriend and I shared the BBQ Platter with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and fresh saute' vegetables - absolutely delicious. We both ate to our contentment and even had plenty to take home.

Need a night off from cooking on the Town Place Apartment grills? Definitely check out Taino Smokehouse! For more information, visit their website at : www.TainoSmokehouse.com.
